so i finally made it to london. till the last moment when i was outside the tribhuvan airport in ktm, coming to london was just like an illusion. when i was outside the airport with my family and my fren prakriti, i suddenly realized tht i was coming to london, for 2 yrs, n it was not an illusion but a fact. many asked me later if i felt like crying or felt sad and so on. but the fact is, i didnt feel anything. for the first time, i was going out of nepal. 3 of us were travelling together. so tht was some relief. so, abt tht feeling thing, didnt feel like crying or anythig, maybe coz everything was new in terms of surroundings n all. but tht doesnt mean tht i didnt miss anyone. missed everyone in ktm very very very much, my parents, sis n bro, frens, my office, juniors, seniors n all. aba chaheko belama kasailai bhetna paudina. so feels lonely when i think of tht.
anyways, now m finally in london. 1st day ma yahan aauda ta felt odd not seeing people walking on the roads. ktm ko jasto bhid bhad nai chaina. everyone's either working, in college, home or travelling by bus, tube or car. bato ta sabai khali khali. peak time ma chahi bhid huncha stations haru ma. aba ta used to bhaye. another thing abt london is its weather. so unpredictable. n pretty windy. udaula jasto hawa lagcha yahan. ek chin mai sunny weather ani ek chin mai pani parna thalcha. people here are used to this, but since we just came here, we find it a little too cold. ani london auda sabai le dal bhat ekdum miss huncha timilai bhanera bhanthe. tara yahan aauda po thaha bhayo tyasto haina bhanera. everyday dal bhat nai khayincha yahan. chicken is cheaper than green vegetables re. so chicken ta almost everyday or every alternate day jastai khayincha.
will be writing abt my experiences as my days passes here in london. ahile lagi yeti nai.
missing u all................

Hike at Lakhure bhanjyang
It's been a while since I wrote a blog. So, after soooo many days, thought about writing about my hike to Lakhure bhanjyang.
The day was 27th January 2007 and time well past 7 am. Venue- Outside Patan Hospital. I was supposed to meet my frens from YTC (Youth Telecenter) at 7 and here I was.....late. Anyways, seemed like I was not the only one late today....Gud for me....Anyways, by 8, we were ready for the trip. We boarded a bus for Lamatar at Lagankhel bus park and hence, began our much-awaited trip.
The bus ride was uneventful and we came to Sisneri at around 9. We had our breakfast and
then became our hike started. In the beginning, we moved in full throttle, full of energy and zeal. As we covered more distance, it became more difficult for us and we settled down wherever we could, catching our breath (hey...we are not used to this kind of hiking....so no complains about the delay). We even managed to go up to the tower area n man, was the effort worthwhile. The view from the tower was superb, worth all the effort.
By the time we reached for our lunch, we were drained out of any energy. The only thing we could think of was FOOD, of course. N when food was put on the table, we went for it. Hehe. After relaxing for a while, we went on to our next destination, the Country Kitchen. The place was gud, but we were a little disappointed with the unclear view. Nevertheless, we joked, relaxed and had enjoyed our time there.
Now, it was time for our descent, which was much easier (at least I thought so). After an hour or so of descent, we came to our resort. Thankfully. We were exhausted, tired, hungry, but satisfied with the hike. But the day was far from over. There was a lot to come. We rested a while, eat and then the FUN began.
We had planned to have bonfire in the evening. But it was not that easy as we thought. The fire would not burn easily, but we tried and tried and tried and then finally we had our fire ready. We played Dumbsharaj, Antakshari and joked around and had chicken barbeque (most of which tasted like coal, hehe). We had also planned for a surprise bday party for 2 of our YTC members. (But, guess wht, they were already expecting the surprise. Here goes our SURPRISE party).
Nevertheless, the trip was truly a wonderful experience. All in all, a gud experience, a memory to truly cherish.....

Women in ICT workshop
As a first step in our "Women in ICT" project, we organized a "Women in ICT: In Search of Identity" workshop on 19-20 December 2006 at SAP Falcha. Due to the bandh called on 19th Dec, we almost had to postpone the workshop. Nevertheless, we decided to go ahead with our schedule and indeed it was a good decision for significant number of participants turned up despite the disruption. The second day was also a fruitful one due to the presence of some key personalities.
The main question that our workshop focused on was "Why are women left behind in the ICT movement?". Discussions focused around the issue andwe were able to come up with quite a few strategies to address this issue, thanx to the valuable inputs and suggestions of the participants.

Another key feature of the workshop was the knowledge sharing mechanism that we used. Open Space methodology that we used to facilitate the discussions was appreciated and liked by all the participants. Also, setting up wiki stations was a key example of appropriation of technology.
All in all, the workshop was a satifying experience for us all.

The magic of AJAX
Ajax, shorthand for Asynchronous JavaScript and XML, is a web development technique for creating interactive web applications. The intent is to make web pages feel more responsive by exchanging small amounts of data with the server behind the scenes, so that the entire web page does not have to be reloaded each time the user requests a change. This is meant to increase the web page's interactivity, speed, and usability.

WYSIWYG editor
WYSIWYG [wɪziwɪg] or [wiziwɪg]), is an acronym for What You See Is What You Get, used in computing to describe a system in which content during editing appears very similar to the final product.[1] It is commonly used for word processors, but has other applications, such as Web (HTML) authoring.
The term describes a user interface that allows the user to view something very similar to the end result while the document or image is being created. For example, a user can view on screen how a document will look when it is printed to paper or displayed in a Web browser. It implies the ability to modify the layout of a document without having to type or remember names of layout commands.

Another Social Networking Video Site
VodPod is heavily designed around social networking. Have a thing for birds? Join the bird “pod” and you’ll have an instantaneous collection of birding videos. Like unicycling? Some kids from Australia have started a pod around that pastime too. Users can join multiple groups that cluster videos around various subjects that allows them to post and collect new videos that pertain to that topic. Although you don’t have to join a pod or even sign up with VodPod to search pod videos. Users can “lurk” within the pods anonymously without being socially networked.

Semantic web
Everyday we play with a lot of data. For example, I view my appointments in a calendar, view my photographs in my web gallery, check my bank statements online and so on. But can we view our photos in a calendar? The answer is NO. Because each of these applications have their own set of data, which is controlled by these applications themselves.
Semantic Web is a web of data. It provides a common formats for interchange of data, where on the original Web we only had interchange of documents i.e. with Semantic Web, data can be shared and reused across applications, enterprise, and community boundaries. It is based on the Resource Description Framework (RDF).

Have you ever thought that creating a flash presentation or a manual in flash was a professional's job? If yes, then with softwares like "WINK", you don't need to be a professional to prepare a flash presentation.
All you have to do is download this software (http://www.debugmode.com/wink/) and you are ready.

More news on FLOCK
This is so cooooooooooool. I am loving it so much more. FLOCK has almost all the features a person may want and much more.
With FLOCK, i can integrate my del.icio.us bookmarks into My News feature. Then there's this feature called web snippet. You can save links, text and pictures as snippets so that you can blog about it later

Snippets are especially handy for re-blogging bits of text from web pages. When you drag a snippet into a blog post, it is automatically formatted as a blockquote with proper citation.
